For the Like Shop concept store in Rostov-sur-le-Don in Russia, young architect and interior designer Eduard Eremchuk has dreamt up an original decor with yellow walls and changing rooms in pink fur. The place echoes the work of artist James Turell and famous designer Alexander McQueen and is sure to be heavily featured on Instagram.

A concept store that looks like a museum…

The “yellow box”-shaped entrance of the Like Shop showroom can be reminiscent of some of James Turell’s artistic creations. The American artist is known for his large-scale works that blur perception thanks to play on light. The most well-known of his techniques saturates space with so much colour you can’t tell where the floor ends and the walls begin.

The showroom’s furniture is all in matching yellow, custom-made by local artisans from the architect’s sketches, creating the illusion of an “infinite yellow space”, as Eduard Eremchuk puts it.

… And haute-couture dresses

The changing room in the middle of the concept store has been designed as an imposing sculptural structure covered in neon pink fur. It makes reference to Alexander McQueen’s SS18 collection which presented flowery dresses in shades of pink. Romantic and poetic pink is highly on-trend at the moment and has inspired fashion houses such as Acne which chose pink for the ceiling of its flagship store in Milan, or restaurants like Sketch in London, designed by India Madhavi.

Eduard Eremchuk has added mirrors to finish off the decor, either on the walls or placed on the floor, which reflect the fluffy pink, as well as huge green plants and translucent glass podiums, and succeeded in creating striking and unexpected visual effects.
